As a kid I was taken to Blackpool every year and also taken on a tour of other local houses with lights on year after year. I asked for my own tree and lights as a kid and then gradually got more lights and decorations indoor and then in 2001 saw 2 sets of My lights said outdoor on them so i requested that dad put one set on gutter and I put the other on a tree. Sadly the bulbs went by end of season and we needed new ones so in 2002 went to several places and bought outdoor lights and saw all the lovely designs and it went from there that every year we would go on a tour round the hardware shops and buy lights and get bigger and bigger and people kept throwing money onto the display and we noticed other displays doing it for charity so I think it was about 2004 or 2005 we decided to start doing it for charity too. about 2005 - 2006 i was shown a dancing house video online on "houseblinger.com" and I said one day I will do that!! By march 2008 I had researched the computer technology and bought it. it took from march 2008 until the November 2008 switch on to learn how to use it and it was trailed on 16 sets of lights across a small section of the display. In 2009 i came across a stock sale online being held by the famous Blackpool illuminations. After a look through the catalogue we decided on the Christmas bear. We went to the old Rigby road depot in Blackpool to buy our very own ex Blackpool illumination and after being shown round the other illuminations that were still awaiting sale we decided on a 4FT mouse and 6FT Santa too! It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy ex Blackpool illuminations created by Blackpool illuminations department at the famous old Rigby road depot. As I got used to computerising and lowering the power to add more to the control panel I gradually computerised more and more sections of the display. Then in 2012 I added addressable pixel lighting that can be changed any colour. This meant another new control panel and new software to run the display which now ran from a dedicated PC. I also after trailing the low range radio station for the music in 2011 put radio station signs in telling people to tune car radios into 93FM to hear the music and watch the lights while outside the display. 2013 saw more pixel lighting added and the main garden tree also added to the computer control meaning it was no longer static and danced up and down to the music. also after trails of new acrylic arctic stuff in a small section of the garden for a few years we extended this further across the garden making all the garden north pole/arctic as the penguins and polar bears were very popular with visitors. 2013 was also the year we was on channel 5 UK TV in December and repeated until 2018. 2019 see's a revisited version of the show hit our screens in December which we are in the process of filming. our 2010 display made it onto a TV show in the USA which was shown in December 2011 on channel TLC . Sadly in April 2019 Susan Griffiths who dressed up as Santa since the lights began in 2002 passed away of pancreatic cancer but it was in her wishes that we carry on the display in her memory. 2019 has completely new songs on completely new software with a completely new design! we are once again testing new technology as we run projectors onto the windows and neon flex up the path! so watch this space for the most colourful north view Christmas as you have never seen it before!
